Laura & Wizard compete in the BSJA 1.15m Open class at KEYSOE EC

After all the wet weather we are still experiencing I thought a Show Jumping outing would be in order. As the weather had been showers all weekend we didn’t load up till late as it was a last minute decision to go. Thankfully the sun was now shining.

Missing the Newcomers’ I thought I’d crack on and just do the next class – 1.15cm Open which to be honest walked a tough track and looked more like 1.25m!

Wizard warmed up nicely and kept up with the Show Jumping Pro’s in the warm up; jumping some beefy fences. I decided to hunt for a pair of spurs as I felt he wasn’t quite as responsive as I’d like – really? I’m not sure what I was thinking the pair I found where Rupert’s “extra sparkle” long dressage spurs. They had a rocket boost effect of Wizard even though I swear I did not use them. He jumped the fastest round of the class but unfortunately a few rails down. Overall I was impressed with us both – hopefully next time the course won’t look quite so imposing.

The pictures don’t do the course justice – my Mum only had 41 seconds to capture them!
